Before buying in person, spend five minutes opening, separating and inspecting the product. Online, download the manual and study the cleaning diagram. Look for phrases such as 'wipe only,' 'do not immerse,' 'hand wash' and 'not removable.' None is automatically disqualifying, but each adds labor.
Read negative reviews for repeated cleaning problems without copying their claims as your own evidence. Use them to identify questions, then verify those questions through manuals, product construction or a hands-on test.
